I assume he would prefer not to get hurt. Problem is if he doesn't do the crazy stuff he does he is mid-card at best, more likely he would be wrestling indies in a rec center. He also has the added blessing/curse of being The Sheik's nephew, so people expect him to be as crazy as his uncle. He is insanely tough, I have never seen anyone else wrestle with a broken jaw or tape their arm shut after they have suffered a major laceration, and continue to wrestle. When he broke his jaw it wasn't healing right so he told Taz to RE-BREAK IT IN THE RING! So a case could be made that he "gets off" on pain. Only he truly knows.

Sabu lives for the the thrills of hardcore wrestling and the cheers of the crowd. I think he lives IN pain, as evidenced by his use of prescription pain medicine.
