If you find yourself thinking your lawn is full of dancing little green men, that more than likely would be irrational. If you see that scene and think to yourself, oh yeah, they are there because I just dropped a little acid, that would be a rational thought.

Rational is a nice way of saying " I agree with you " A rational person thinks things that the majority would call a idea of a sound mind.

Irrational would be the thoughts of a crazy person. The thoughts of a person that doesn't have the majority's support.

At one time, strapping down a person and torturing him until he confessed his sins and asked for Jesus to come into his life was rational because the intention was to save this person's soul. Of course, this was the opinion of a church in the dark ages. When compared to the rational of our modern culture ( I hope ) this is seen as irrational.

So, in short, ration thought equal opinion supported by the masses. -best wishes.

I think that rational thinking is the un-concious thought process that gets each of us up in the morning, to work, and back home without going around stealing, murdering and commiting arson to/on each person that we met up with during the day who wasn't thinking as rational as us and made us mad.
