When u walk on dry sand u sink but when u walk on wet sand u dont. I have an idea but it could be wrong.

You sink on wet sand, too, just not as much. It's all about compressive strength (the degree to which a material resists compression). Dry sand has very little compressive strength because the individual grains slide out of your way as best they can. With wet sand, the water binds the grains together so they don't compress as much.

The water creates a kind of bonding agent when force (your weight) is applied to it. when the sand particles and water is forced together in creates a semi-solid matter causing it to hold your weight. The dry sand without the water is different because the sand particles are not restricted by water and are able to move freely, thus causing you to sink more than the wet sand.
