Pretty well said. Although, death may be HELL. Some people 'die' in a horrendous manner. Some people live in a tumultuous manner.

That "Life is pleasant".. can be experience. But death , without any experience, and even feedback ?
At least we experience our being , and with little deeper awareness can perceive that there is something other than mind and body within us. But without the sense organs functioning, how are we to know anything further. And with this suspense, where can there be a peace ?

This isn't really an answer, but I love Asimov so I'm going to blab on about it anyway.
Asimov said the only reason he is a fan of IQ tests is that he usually ends up on the top end of them. However, this happened to him one day:
He was at a friends house for dinner, talking endlessly about how much he loved his wife. The door bell rang and he jumped out of his seat screaming "That'll be her now!"
He then (somehow) managed to run in to a closet and accidentally lock himself in.

Even the transition is probably peaceful for some people. I've heard people who had near death experience see their lives flash before their eyes. I think if you've been an evil person, that would be hell. If you were a good person, it would be heaven.

Has Isaac Asimov died? I think he was just trying to sell more books.

transition - i think it refers to being aged. when you are no longer see life as pleasant as it could be, you wish death to kill your pain.. the thought and the pain would be troublesome...
