So far, no hurricane has made US landfall in the 2006 season. Prior to that, the last time was 2001. There were nine hurricanes in 2001, but none made US landfall as hurricanes. Erin hit Bermuda and Canada, Felix stayed at sea, Gabrielle only hit Florida as a tropical storm, Humberto hit Bermuda, Iris hit Central America, Karen hit Canada, Michelle hit Cuba and the Bahamas, and Noel and Olga both stayed out to sea. It is ironic that this season had no US landfalling hurricanes despite above average total activity.
The last Atlantic hurricane season with no landfalling hurricanes at all was 1994. The entire season had only three hurricanes. Chris and Florence stayed at sea, while Gordon was briefly a hurricane off the coast of the Carolinas, but only ever made landfall as a tropical storm. (However, a Pacific hurricane did make landfall in Mexico that year.)

if you do a little research, you'll see that there were several years back in the early 1900s and before where no tropical systems were found anywhere in the Atlantic the whole season.

I don't think there ever was a season with no hurricanes. We had a couple this season.
