Stop and think about this now, you have brought them a strange check, from another state. They don't know you nor have a relationship with you because you don't have a checking account in their bank, but you want them to hand you money? It doesn't work that way.

There are several ways to cash a check.
You can go to the bank that issued the check, they will know if there is enough money in the account and pay you right then. But since you said it's out of state, that may not be possible for you.
You can find a friend or relative that has a checking account that would be willing to deposit your check into their account and give you the cash for the check.
You can find any of the places that advertise "We cash checks" but be prepared to pay them a large fee for taking a chance on your check.

The best way is to open an account at a bank convenient to you. If you look around just a bit, you can find a free one. Then deposit the check into the account. As soon as it clears (typically 3 days) you can start writing checks on the account. Just be careful not to overdraw, the accounts are free unless you overdraw, then they can charge up to $25 for each 'bounced check' you write.

You say you do everything electronically, yet you don't have an account. Sorry, it doesn't work that way. To use electronic services such as ATM or debit card, you need an account attached to the card. If you have an account, and you have enough of a balance in your account then you can deposit it and get cash. If they're not allowing you to cash a paycheck there might be a good reason, like they don't believe its yours. Your explanation is shoddy and inconsistent. Hope things got straightened out. It appears I'm seven years too late! Cheers!

Not alot of options for you, since the bank is out of state and you do not have a bank account no other bank is going to cash your check

Options one would be to open a bank account , you are going to run into this problem again and a bank account would help or if you have a problem opening a checking account you can open a saving account

the other option is to find a check cashing place, they will take a fee but as long as you have id and the check is written on a corporate account you should be able to get it cashed

You can usually cash the check through the bank that the check came from. Like Bank of America for example. If not, you can go to a check cashing place like Ace check cashing, or a grocery store. Just be sure to have at least two forms of ID and possible your SS card.

You can take your paycheck to a check cashing place in just about any large city. Just look in the phone book. But they charge a hefty amount for the service. Your best bet is to save some money and open a checking account as soon as possible.

There are online alternatives now for people to cash checks without having a bank account. One example I know of is Ingo Money. They let you use your mobile phone to cash a check. It's pretty easy. Check them out at http://www.ingomoney.com. I've loaded quite a few checks this way

There are special check cashing stores that will charge a fee to cash a check without having a bank account. You might also try your local grocery store, as the stores in my area will cash payroll checks.

Oh yeah. Just go to any of those Check Cashing Places and they will be glad to take 3% out of your pay check to cash it. Check your local city on the net and search for Check Cashing.

The only way that you can cash a check at a bank is to find out what other banks are affiliated with the bank that the check was originally drawn on. For instance, when I worked in telemarketing, the parent company was based out of New York so their bank was out of state too. So I called the company's accounting department to ask them if there were any affiliate banks in my area and they referred me to a bank that was in my neighborhood. When I got there I went to the window and told the teller that my company was on their list. The woman looked it up and sure enough, my employer was listed and they were able to cash the check (free of charge)
