Me and my brother co-run a webcomic called Nintendo Acres, and I'm just wondering what types of things we should do. Any Ideas?

Wow where to begin? I ran a webcomic for over two years at it's highest point I had 2000 hits per day. Thats not a lot compared to some of the really good comics out there but not too shabby for something I did in my spare time.

First - comics based on video games using pixelated video game characters are played out. Some people have been successful doing it, but not money. On the down side is if you ever want to get big you will run into copyright issues.

Second - Learn to tell a good story or have a joke layed out, you only have four panels to capture your audiences attention and when I looked at your site it is hard to tell what is happening. Its just confusing.

Third - Take time to make your site layout nice. People want to see that you care about what you are doing and not just throwing up some garbage that took 10 minutes.

Fourth - Make extra comics. Get far ahead of yourself. You need to be at least two weeks ahead of your scheduled posting dates. I posted on MWF, some comic go M-F, some run seven days. No matter your schedule have it displayed on you page and stick to it. People coming to your site hate it when a comic is up late. Getting ahead of yourself helps you stay on schedule if things get hectic.

Fifth - When the first four things are done, advertise. Go into forums and leave comments make sure your comic URL is attached to your signature. Go to other webcomic site get links on there. Just get your name out there and the rest will fall into place.

It depends on what you want to get out of it. If it is just for fun...just get the word out to friends and online community. If you want to make some money get a good daily hit count going and then you can get advertisers. When you start small just get a flat rate for banners. If you get bigger (more daily hits) I would upgrade to a flat rate plus a per click charge. Also have partner sites where you can exchange clicks and/or get paid for clicks.

Get with the other web comics sites and exchange links to each other. This will give you some exposure and more traffic.

Some of my favorite web comics, Thundersturck and Tetsuko.

Why don't you guys put on things that other websites would have, like forums, games, contests, web pages, pictures, wallpapers, all of that fun stuff.
