I have been on the pill since my daughter was born 7 years ago. We want to start trying for another baby now, and I am just curious about how long it takes for the birth control to get out of your system.

My OB told me that the pill only stays in your system for 24 hours, which is why you have to take them every day in order to prevent pregnancy. Also, many women are given bcp to take for one month when ttc because you are more likely to ovulate the first month after going off them. I know several women who conceived the first month. I wish I had known that when I went off the pill because I waited a month to see if my cycle would be regular and it ended up taking me 3 months to conceive. I would try right away. While ttc, either chart your bbt (basal body temp) or use an ovulation kit to find out if/when you are ovulating. You can get info about charting your bbt on-line at fertilityfriend.com, as well as chart your temps for free. If you don't conceive right away and find you are not ovulating regularly, consult with your OBGYN. Good luck!

I think "Irishmidget6" is a bit confused. Oral birth control would mean taking birth control orally, meaning the pill. I have been told by my doctors that you can get pregnant after missing even one pill, or even taking it late. So I would think the possibility of getting pregnant is there as soon as you stop your pill.

I stopped 3 months before my wedding, was abstinent for those 3 months (not married, hello) and got pregnant after 1 month of trying. So, it was 4 months total. I expected it to take longer because I heard it could be a year, but I guess it is different for everyone.

I suppose it's different for everyone, but I got pregnant straight away, and I was taking the pill for 13 years. A friend of mine took 4 months to conceive. Just relax and have fun. xx

It takes anybody diverse quantities of time to come back to conventional after birth control, even if in case your worried you should seek for suggestion out of your doctor, a specialist will be more beneficial waiting to allow you to recognize whats happening then strangers on the internet.

My doctor had told me it takes 3 to 6 months. Someone else had told me it had taken them a yr before it happened. Hang in there don't get discouraged. It will happen for you. :)

It is impossible to get pregnant orally. Oral birth control is unnecessary.
