It depends on what you mean by 'alot', doesn't it? If they are drunk all night and most of the day, if they start the day with a drink, and continue throughout the afternoon, then they are most likely an alchoholic and you are right. If instead go out for a couple drinks on most nights, stay sober during the day, and don't let alchohol consumption affect their lives much, then they're not a drunk.

Well it does depend somewhat on the relationship is with this person. Also if this person is letting their drinking affect possibly their family life, depending on their age. (sometimes it doesn't even matter the age of the person) I don't think you are being too judgmental. Even tho I know regardless of how much someone drinks they will not do anything about their drinking just from someone else telling them they are drinking to much...When it gets the worse, or rock bottom, or even before that...is when they will hopefully seek help for their problem. Not an easy situation, when you may care about this person and what they are doing to themselves and possibly other family and friends...best of luck...

Well, a person can drink a lot and never get drunk. But if they do stay drunk all the time, that's on them. Calling them a drunk isn't going to help them any. Why not suggest getting help instead?
