So in the case of the quote you are asking I think it would mean the better your attitude towards things the more intelligent you are of course the opposite would be true as well.

If the altitude of your attitude is high, it means you have a lot of attitude, which can inhibit your ability to learn and apply yourself (aptitude). Someone with less "attitude" would have a higher aptitude and thus be able to learn and apply themselves better.

It means that noone is born skilled,and if you try hard enough,and have attitude,you can achieve everything. In my opinion, there is noone who can't be taught singing,for example. He might not be gifted with a voice,but if he wants to sing so bad,and he tries harder, he'll eventually start singing good....
