I am going to Copenhagan, Spain, Amsterdam, and London in a few months to learn how AIDS is dealt with in other countries. I hate it when people say "Am I fat?" So please..I am not trying to be annoying here but I do want to fit in with the culture and was wondering is a size 6 fat to them? Should I try to go down to a 4? I always heard they were thinner why is this and would I be considered on the chunky side?

You'd be thin too if all of your food prices suddenly doubled, you didn't have a car, and were paying twice as much tax as the rest of the world. Size 6 is great--just be comfortable in your own skin.

Well I'm a exchange student for puerto rico and Im living in Germany for 1 year to study high school. I notice that all the european girls are really thin. I mean the eat bread, ice cream and cake and they dont gain 1 pound. The reason for this is that the walk so much that their bodies are used to eating that way and burning the calories. I used to be a size 4 but now I'm a 6 because I thought I could eat like the germans but that was a big mistake. Jaja. If your going to Europe try not to eat a lot of candy or cakes. ( I know is hard ) and don't eat like the europeans thinking that you wont gain weight because your waking or doing more exercise. Were latins girls and is very normal for us to gain weight really fast and very easily. Just follow my advice and if you really want to you can loose weight but thats up to you. Hope it helps, any questions you can ask me at tamais13@yahoo.com

You shouldn't try to go to a 4 for any reason....and just to fit in?
Please read When Women Stop Hating Their Bodies.
A size six is small whereever you are (and I live in Japan). You won't fit in anyway, and size doesn't matter.
(By the way, yes, Europeans are thinner because in general they eat healthier, but also they smoke like crazy) they get more exercise. Worry about how you feel and what your body can do, not what you look like.

Don't worry about your size. I am European, and the only way to fit in here is to be sociable (and not worrying about your looks).

Eat what seems nice, try it all. We don't like it if you don't join us eating........ if you gain weight, just get rid of it after your Europe-trip and don't be occupied with it while you're supposed to make new friends and have a good time!!!

But, if you do wish to watch your weight while in Europe, just rent a bike instead of a car...........

By the way, did you know that a fashion-agency in Madrid (Spain) refused some models on their catwalk because they were considered too SKINNY...?

Enjoy!

How can people say you are fat when you are size 6. What are you 3' tall.
I used to hear that they were thinner than Americans, but now I hear they are catching up, so don't worry.

I'm Czech, and I notice I have a hard time gaining weight especially eating a lot, I guess it has to do with high metobalism (sp?), I'm just like my father. Unfortunately, my mother can gain weight. I guess it varies from a person to another.

You shouldn't change yourself for anything just to try to fit in. Just be yourself.
