Today when I was riding in to work I was listening to the radio and the dj is talking about a music artist by the name of Akon who is African and how he is a polygamist, which means more than one wife. His father had three wives and he has more than one and many people called in saying that they did like the idea and accepted it as way of life and there were some who were full americans who were raised in a home with two mothers who did not mind him slipping out in the middle of the night to the woman's room. What is the world coming to, is sharing partners now just a normal thing at all?
Please comment and be honest would you or would you not be in polygamy relationship why or why not?

I could never be in a polygamist marriage. I could not share my husband with another woman. He could not share me with another man. I am sure that even though these people say that it is all happy, there has to be a lot of hurt and jealousy going on. For me....absolutely not because I love my husband too much to share him and if he had divided affections and loyalties, it would destroy me. NO.

Monogamy is not the thing of the past. Everyone is looking for something to fill a void in their life to help make them temporarily happy, such as over eating, spending (use of credit cards), adultry, etc. We all have many choices to make throughout our day from the time we wake to when we fall asleep. I would try listenening to an uplifting and encouraging radio station, do not conform to wordly ways, don't feel like your missing out on what everyone else is doing. Polygamy was here thousands of years ago as well as it will be for many more, that doesn't make it right. Even though we are adults, we still need boundaries, rules, laws, and regulations. Think of adults as overgrown pre-schoolers who can hide and conform their feelings better than a two year old. Since I've become a beleiver in Christ, the weight of the world has been lifted off my shoulders and I will not conform to what others are doing and I choose not to be the person I was 6yrs ago because of the guidelines and choices I think of daily. One of the ten commandments is "thou shall not commit adultry". Each one of us will have to answer for our poor choices when we commit to these things but the beautiful part is we are forgiven when we repent. There are many wonderful men and woman out there who do not beleive in polygamy. Akon is following what his father does, neither know right from wrong. Being a polygamist would cause insecurity, self-doubt, less joy, less attention, less love. I would feel like I was standing in line waiting my turn for the rest of my life. I would feel like all my feelings would be on hold until it was my turn for attention. I'm known for my patience from husband, friends, and family. Most of us can't stand in line with two items in our hands at the grocery store before we start counting what the next person has in front of us. I couldn't deal with that and it's not the way God intended a marriage to be.

Since we are in cyberworld, there's no need to be honest or lie. Wrap your head around that one.

Honey, people are hurting, people have been hurt, and it's I'm gonna hurt you before you hurt me. That's why the kids are out of control, why the government's gone to heck and why men and women don't respect each other.

Monogamy, like getting married simply for love, is a relatively new concept -- like the past 100 years. Marriage was all about a business deal and political move - I got a daughter, and I'll give her to you for three goats and a pig and we join our families for more power.

I support monogamy.
I believe that's how God so designed it or else he would have made Adam, Eve, Evelyn, Evener and probably a few other fillies for Adam who would all be quite happy to share this one man!
I don't think its natural behaviour.
I think some people in their own sad and twisted way propagate the wrong thing and then suddenly everybody's asking "So what? That's no big deal".
We need to start reminding people of things that are acceptable...
Its just sad though!

monogamy is NOT a thing of the past, but polygamy is a widely accepted custom in other non-european cultures. Just because we were raised to think it is wrong, doesn't mean the entire world agrees with us.

I definitely would NOT. I couldn't imagine sharing my husband with anyone. Nor do I think it is fair for the children to be brought up in such an environment.

No I wouldn't be in a polygamy relationship. It is cheating. God intended for a man and women to be in a monogomist relationship.

No I would not. Why? Because I would have to hurt the other girl if my husband was with her and that would get me in trouble.
