I've registered my interest in doing an IT course with affordabletraining.co.uk , and they've rung me up and quoted ~£600 for a course. Something smells fishy though, I can't help thinking they're trying to rip me off. What's the catch with this and similar providers?

A) they jst want your money.
B) the "education" you will get will be extremely sub par with little to no help as far as mentoring
C) what you'll most likely get is a book and a CD-ROM, with a letter telling you you're on your way to becoming whatever it is you wanted to be, IT wise.

It's a way of learning whilst still working as far as i'm concerned.
I'm doing A+ & N+ at the moment and what it's costing to what i'll be earning when I have passed them both is very little i'd say.
Tutor on hand 24/7 if i dont understand things.
Stop being so negative and look at the positives.
Are they CompTIA certificates you will be getting?

Agree with Reaper, check what you're getting for your money. They may say that its classroom based but even then a computer interactive session.

that is a cheek..how do they know what you or others can afford, they would have to have all your financial information. To me it sounds like a bunch of cowboys with such a stupid name!..try a search in Internet to see if you can find any complaints about them!
