My husband and I had the same problem with them and birds tearing up our yard! I like to watch them and all but seriously holes in my yard. I even put food out so they would stop digging- that didn't work. So I hit up Home Depot and went to their lawn and garden section and there is a "poison" you can put around the perimeter of your lawn and in the main "problem" areas (AKA where they really like to hang out) and it sorta acts like a barrier. The thing is it repels squirrels and birds but if ingested by a dog or a cat can be harmful- I know we let our neighbors know that we were putting it on our lawn so that they wouldn't let their animals venture into our yard. Good luck!

Instead of trying to kill them try this first. I know if you add certain vegtables and or flowers around the area where the squirrels are they will leave because of the smell and taste of the vegatation.
Repellents
Taste repellents such as Ropel or Hinder can be applied to seeds, bulbs, and flowers, trees and shrubs, poles and fences, siding and outdoor furniture. However it will be necessary to reapply repellents after rain. Repellents are most effective when they are applied before the damage has begun.
Squirrels are supposedly adverse to tasting cayenne pepper. Hot pepper powder, which is said not to affect birds, is sometimes mixed in with bird seed to keep squirrels out. Reports about the effectiveness of this strategy have been mixed

The humane traps are constantly well, we use a Cheerio tied into it and smear peanut butter on it. The humane traps are a bit of slower to near than the kill em form, so that you must comfortable the meals somewhat! I'd fear approximately the rabbit with the cats; my cat thinks all bunnies are named "Lunch." What I uncover works good to to visit the ironmongery shop and purchase a few quite exceptional (000) metal wool. Stuff this across the pipes underneath the sink and any gaps you feel the tinys are coming via. The mice will bite the metal wool and DIE! If your critters might occur to consume the lifeless frame, the metal wool is simply too small to damage them. I would not placed it wherein the rabbit could pass, however I do not feel it might be a significant challenge for him underneath the sink. An exterminator advised me as soon as to check out beer. You cast off the entire water resources and placed out a pan of clean low-cost beer. The mice/rats drink it, and given that they cannot burp the carbonation makes them explode at the within. Rabbits and puppies burp, so despite the fact that they received to the beer, they might simply have a well time! I've in no way attempted this as I cannot get the water resources managed in my barn, however that is what he stated to do. What a solution to pass......he stated they in general pass inside a few toes of the beer pan......I feel the beer might must be lovely contemporary to nonetheless be carbonated, and probably soda might paintings too? Random ideas, sorry. I recognise the metal wool works.

No matter what you do, they will come back. You need to learn how to live with it, I guess. My neighbor's cat loves to chase them, though. Don't put any poisons, you might harm someone else's pet, too. The squirrels dig my yard and eat Sunflowers, but I can't do anything about it. I just shoo away when I see it.

First of all, if you live in the city, it is probably illegal. Second, squirrels are the type of animals that if one dies, another squirrel immediately moves in and takes over the vacated territory. Think of yourself as a temporay visitor on the squirrels' territory.

Try sprinkling moth crystals and red pepper around. That will deter them, somewhat.
My son got an air pellet gun and shoots them in his yard. Have never tried that, but he and his wife were desperate.
I use the moth crystals and red pepper.

Why would you want to do that? That's terrible. I have one that comes in my yard and doesn't bother anything. My daughter and I feed him. They're here for a purpose same as us. God put everything here for a reason.

I think you should read Silent Spring by Rachel Carson and be thankful you have squirrels.
