My 6 week old is formula fed and all off a sudden she is spitting up alot more than usual. She isn't "throwing up" just alot of spit up. My mother-in-law says she is maybe becoming lactose intolerant?? I am not sure about that though. Is she maybe eating too much at one time? Am I not burping her good enough. This started on Sunday. But it is not with all bottles? Maybe it is just normal. Just seeing if anyone else is going through this or has gone through this. She does have a doctors appt scheduled pretty soon, so I will ask the doctor. I just wanted to her personal experiences first.

I would say your mother-in-law could be correct, it could be an allergy, or reflux. Try burping her after every ounce and see if that helps. Otherwise, you may either have to switch formulas or just wait for her to outgrow it. At any rate, I'd check with your pediatrician.

My first son spit up every time he ate, my younger son with reflux and milk allergies spit up and threw up on an hourly basis.
The Stomach doc said all babies do spit up, if all you ate was a liquid you would spit up too, its hard to keep it down.
If she is spitting up large amounts I would def be concerned, if it turns to throwing up, diarrieha, any sign of respiratory problems, fussy, or any type of exema... then def consider the possibilites to milk allergies (intolerance) and all the symptoms minus the skin prob its reflux...

I would also take into consideration, if your baby is infact allergic or intolerent to milk, there is a high chance that she will be the same to soy.. my sons gi doc said that is why he got better for a couple of weeks with soy, then got worse again...

Good luck!

You are right its just that she is eating to much at a time. My baby is till doing it and now she is 13 weeks. Its normal for them to do that. The reason I tell you is because when I took her to her 2 months check up I asked and that's what she told me. For me i just had to buy her lots of bibs because I was tire or changing her cloths every hour of the day. But the doctor told me that they should stop around 3 to 4 months.

My daughter was breastfed and spit up with EVERY feed, from about 3 weeks on, she didn't know when to stop feeding. Lactose intolerance usually shows itself with gas pain or bloody stool, not spitting up. Good luck.

my son did that too but it was more perjectile spitting up and it was alot so we switched is formula to infimil ARA and that worked too but since it is not at every meal you maybe feeding him a little too much and if he has to eat that much to get full try putting little bit of baby ceareal in the formula to make it thicker that will help with the spitting up and fill him up faster too so he wont have to eat too much to get full. It will give him enough to eat and fill him up and stop most of his spitting up.
well good luck.
