my mum is the female version of homer simpson (though mellowed with age)... she often refused to give me a plaster if i hurt / cut myself and scolded at me for getting hurt. there are other things, my mum and i have sorted our differences, but i often felt older and more mature than my (then young mum)...have you had similar experiences??

Yes and I think it still does. I feel my mom is still immature and we can not talk. I love her but I have come to except that we Will never be able to set and have a long conversation like other mom and daughters. I would like too.

totally, my father is the reincarnation of Homer Simpson. He is clumsy, he swears, gets on people's nerves, completely unafraid to speak his mind, and really immature(still makes farting noises and chews with his mouth open), he has a huge beer belly, and cares jack about me.

plus he hates my mom's family and thinks "the man" is always trying to bring him down.

Homer Simpson is great, how dare you besmirch his good, animated name. Apologize!! If you're still feeling resentment or turmoil or whatever, seek counseling, i am, and it's really helping me deal with issues from way back when. Good luck!
