I have 2 female guppies, and i've had them for maybe about 3-4 weeks, they're clearly pregnant, but it just seems like it's been a long time, without having their babies. What can i do thelp them? It does'n usually take this long.

Generally other than the following there isn't much you can do.

1)Test ammonia, and nitrate levels.
2)Add a little extra salt to the tank.
3)Feed them freeze dried brine shrimp.

Often a change in water chemistry, or food will trigger them to give birth.

There isn't too much you can do aside from waiting. You could get a breeder net (the kind that hangs on the side of the tank) and when you notice the female getting very large move her into the net. This will prevent the guppy babies from being eaten when the mother gives birth (they make a tasy snack to other fish, even guppies!) Good luck!

to be honest there is nothing you can do but let nature take its course . Are you sure they are ready to come out yet ? I dont know much about guppies but I have platies and when their stomach starts to get square on the bottom and they get like a little white plug on their behind I know its time for them to be born .

If it was me I would buy a breeder cup and put her in that . the one I have has like divider in it with a slit and when they are born they slide right down there and it protects them from the mother fish eating them . Once she is done they say 12 hrs but mine has never lasted that long take her out and then take the divider out and then your babies can swim around. Do not feed th em the first 48 hrs they wont eat. Then you just put a small amount of food in there and when you see them eating you can add more and more food as the days go by.
If you let her have them in your big tank chances are none of them will surive the other fish will eat them and so will the mother .

Also dont do a water change the first months of their lives it will put them into shock. I always do a water change right before mine gives birth that way the tank is good to go for a month even two months if you dont overfeed the fish

please remove your pregnant guppy from the community tank. place her in a clear plastic birthing cup (find at pet store) hang it on the inside of your tank. it has slots in the bottom for the babies to escape after she gives birth... they will soon find grasses to hide behind (keep plenty in the tank). keep the babies and the adults separated... or you'll wake up to an empty tank - except for the adults. if you plan to raise guppies.. my suggestion would be to have several small tanks for breeding, wellness tank to separate any sick fish, baby tank, male/female tanks.

I too don't think there is much you can do. They will have them when they are ready, just like every other species of animal on earth except humans.

You will love seeing the babies grow up so fast. Good Luck with them.

Keep your water very clean. I would suggest going as far as changing up to 10% of the water every day. Try feeding more frozen and live foods as well. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/NavResults.cfm?cm_mmc=LiveAquaria_DFS_Links-_-Fish_Supplies-_-LiveAquaria_Gen_Page-_-Feeders&ref=3969&subref=AA&N=2004+112975
