Most schools have some kind of a dress code. No matter how "normal" the clothing is, if it breaks that code, then the school has every right to discipline the student. There are some things that aren't offensive outside of school, but it's just not appropriate for school clothing, like tube tops and ultra minis. It is both the parent and the child's responsibility to know and follow the school rules, no matter what they are. The rules exist for a reason.
My old school used to make kids who broke the dress code change into their gym clothing. That was bad enough that most of us didn't want to even chance it. Who wants to walk around all day in fugly gym clothes?

are you saying should they be punished for having normal clothes, going outside the normal, or having an original style?
