100% No. Hamsters are solitary animals anyway and live alone, in the wild they only socialise to breed. Gerbils are sociable creatures and will happily live with others of the same sex so long as introduced when very young.
If you put a hamster and gerbil together it will result in a horrific flight causing pain and suffering to both, though due to size difference I'm sure the hamster would survive.

My friend put 2 different type of hamsters in a cage and the next morning she found that 1 of the hamsters had eaten the other leaving the head...I wouldnt want to think what a gerbil can do!

No not a good idea at all...
I had to purchase only one hamster that is a boy and they are dominent and territorial...
They don't like their own kind in the same cage as them...
Either buy different cages or only have one little pet...
My little guy is happy to have his home all to himself...
He is also much friendlier that way...

no they cant not because they would probably kill each other but gerbils are better being kept with another gerbil they have different needs to a hamster and they are better suited with one of there own i have two hamsters and a gerbil who live together and have no problems as there is 2 of them they can fight and its not practical really i would keep 2 gerbils together

No, it's not worth the risk. Hamsters are territorial and will fight to the death. Gerbils can live together, if they are from the same litter.

Not likely. Hamsters are solitary creatures, they won't even share a cage with another member of their own species without killing it, let a lone a member of a different species. Gerbils are sociable animals but only with members of their own kind, but again, they won't tolerate another rodent species in its cage. I discovered this when my mouse went missing from his cage and turned up dead in my step-brother's gerbil cage.

if you want a blood bath in the cage then yes go ahead and try, but it would be a very bad idea as they are two diffrent species of critters, two drawf hamsters can live together and two gerbils can but syrian hamsters cant they will fight till one dies then eat it.

Not at all, the gerbils would not want hamsters in their space and vice versa!

no chance the gerbil will kill the hamster, you don't say what type of hamster you have but that don't really matter coz gerbils are far more aggresive than almost any hamster.
