Religion! All religion....Millions and millions of people have died due to some form of a religious belief. The need to gain power comes from a motivation from a so called "higher power" and the people who do the killing claim that "God" has chosen them to do what they are doing. Ex. Bush,Hitler, The early Popes who gave the ok for the crusades
