Okay! This sounds crazy, but I'm in high school and I usally get my period during the holidays, 1 after every term. I've been having a brown discharge and light blood spotting when I go to the toilet, but if I wear a pad nothing shows. Usually my periods are so heavy I need to wear a maternity pad, so this is incredibly weird! Any ideas whats happening to me? Its been over a week!
Oh, I'm 16 and I've had my period for 2 1/2 years, and its only this year that its taken to coming every holidays. Could it be stress related?

The person you really need to see is a GYN. Your periods should come regularly and almost monthly if you have had periods for the past 2 1/2 years. I don't quite follow the pattern you are describing, but if I am correct in understanding you only get a cycle every three or four months. This pattern change could be due to several different things, all best evaluated and treated by the Gyn doctor. You need to speak with your mother and have her set you up with an appointment, and preferably even go with you if it is your very first Gyn examination. Make certain the doctor knows it is your first exam as well. The explaination may well be very simple and straightforward, and easily treated- but not by any one on the web.

Don't stress. Easy to say but hard to do! Our bodies are very affected by stress/worry so to put your self at ease go and get it checked by a nurse or doctor.
Research on line is also great but can put some scary ideas in your head. It may be better to hear it from someone who knows you, your body and your medical history.
I usually do both the research and the visit and then more research after the visit if needed.
This probably won't be the last time your period does something odd or changes it's regular pattern. It usually develops a new one in a short time.

It very well could be stress related. If you go to www.obgynhealthline.com it should give you a substantial amount of information. I would have thought preganancy but, you said no sex...so that knocks that out of the water. Are you under a lot of stress, lost a lot of weight, or any other major change? These are things that my doctor has said will change things.

yes it could be stress related, this can do wonderful things to our body including delayed periods. however i think you could do with a trip to the docs, i like you started having strange periods when i was about sixteen and had to be put on the pill to regulate them it also showed that i had cysts on my ovaries. i know it is embarrassing for you when you ar e so young but get it looked into as it can lead to infertility if left untreated. see if its possible to see a women doc or nurse if you are not wanting to be seen by a male doc.

you can't go by the holidays, they change a little bit every year. you need to actually count the days between periods. it doesn't sound like there's a problem tho, a number of things could change your period like that.
