Mostly because of the smell. Mosquitoes and bugs tend to attract people who apply hair oil or lot of gel on their hair and also wearing unwash clothes.

Supposedly it's something in our sweat that attracts them, whether it's a component of the sweat or just our hormones (pheromones) is up for debate.
For example, a friend said that if you eat bananas then it makes you more attractive to mosquitoes because of the postassium in the bananas. Maybe so. I tend to excrete my potassium and, therefore, have to take potassium supplements (especially in summer when I sweat a lot) and I am irresistible to mosquitoes.
There maybe something to the sweat theory. My Dad and I both perspire a lot. Mom and my brother do not. Dad and I are mosquito bait and they hardly bite my brother and Mom.
If you find the scientific answer, let me know!

Mosquitoes are attracted to your body's heat, moisture and carbon dioxide - so if you breathe and perspire they like you!! Perfume can also attract the bugs.

I do believe it has to do with our chemical make-ups and scents... Whether it's sweat or whether you're wearing a sweet smelling perfume, the insects pick up on it, and it attracts them. It can also be a bright color you are wearing that draws their attention like a bright colored flower would in the summer. Hope this helps!

i agree with the previous answer. some ppl have a special smell, that attracts these animals, may have to do with blood type or taking some kinds of vitamins (not 100%sure tho) btw they love me too and they had a nice meal from me last night when i was sitting out in my yard (still hurts:()

I get a lot of bugs (bees too) coming at me when I use a certain hair product (gel, hair spray) that has a scent. I'm sure that a lot to do with it.

I know what you mean it could be their blood or it's just the lotion you use. I try not to use heavy scented lotion when i'm out it tends to make them worse.
