CELTA is a form of TESOL. It is the BARE MINIMUM required to work in a private language institute. It won't get you a job in any public sector. DELTA is the diploma that follows the CELTA + teaching experience, and MIGHT help you get a job in a (crappy) public adult learning setting. TOEFL is not a qualification - it is a test used to determine whether or not non-Native speakers can communicate in English.

As the market in the UK is competitive, you've got a VERY slim chance of getting a work permit without the following:

- Bachelor's degree in Applied Linguistics
- Master's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language or Applied Linguistics
(both from recognized, accredited universities in English-speaking countries)
- Teaching experience

Presumably if you are wanting to teach English as a foreign language you will be working with adults. In that case you'll probably be OK with a Degree (or equivalent) and an additional TEFL qualification. As you are working with adults you will not need a CRB check. I would apply directly to the Language Schools and hopefully they would advise you on visa requirements.

A lot of patience, that's what. Especially if you're working with the children.
Look into the NET program for Hong Kong. They're hiring lots. Very good program... best pay!

i think you'll find you also need to be an alcoholic, be irratable, hate children and take your domestic problems to work with you.
