Create a problem that has never been asked before.

Think outside of the box. Do you want to solve a huge problem like curing cancer or something more along the lines of creating the paper clip, for example.

If you came up with a solution to mundane daily problems that would save every human a hour of trouble a day, maybe they would have time to solve problems too. The chain reaction created by your effort would help mankind. Go through your daily routine, what would help you the most in your day. Start there and delve deeper into thinking about every aspect.

A lot of your motivation will come from whether you want to solve problems to help our world or do you just want to turn a buck. Good Luck, chief.

the same way you would go about solving one that has been solved before.

it is only between you and the problem. if it has been solved before does not matter to you in that moment, because you dont know about the solution. it wont become easier by knowing that there is a solution either, as long as you have no hint as to what it might be. ( it may however motivate you to stay on it, instead of giving up).

so you see... the real problem is not the solving, but to find an unsolved one.

one way would be to create one yourself. but that is of course ethically debateable. there are harmless problems to create, for example a random equation, which you try resolve afterwards, if possible, or prove wrong if impossible. kind of like a game of patience for mathematicians...

or you could just keep your eyes open and wait for one to come along... solve it and hope to be the first. dont forget to document your work though, scientists are sticklers for formalities.

all this is on the assumption that you are in fact capable of solving any problem. the more difficult ones will be more likely to be unsolved still... so you also need a creative brain.

good luck!

First research all problems that have resisted being solved. Then learn about the problem you pick out. Then solve it. Pretty simple, huh? If it was easy, it would not be a problem!

Ask an original question.

Answers and Questions are complimentary extremes of the same thing.

The more clearly and accurately you define one the more the other is revealed. Thus when you precisely define a question, its answer becomes self-evident.
