It's obvious she doesn't appreciate a true friend or a genuinely giving person. It's easy to buy someone a "thing" without much thought or effort. It's very special and thoughtful when someone makes you something from the heart with their hard work and talent. Maybe you shouldn't worry too much about being direct with her and just tell her when she's being thoughtless or unfair. Maybe you deserve a better friend and should look around for people more like you, that are loving and would appreciate you for it.

how is that being a hypocrite? she hugged her friend for getting her a nice gift. You gave her paper with glitter on it. The girl obviously is very materialistic and would rather have had the jewelry. Just ask yourself if you really want a friend like that. If the answer is no- distance yourself.

only Allah (swt) is conscious who's a hypocrite and who isn't. He is conscious what's in our hearts. also, its no longer our pastime to judge one yet another on that, only recommend. How can someone who calls others hypocrites be so confident that he's loose from hypocrisy himself? Salaams

She liked the other girl's gift better. I'm sure you put a lot of time & thought into the card you made her, but she either doesn't understand that, or doesn't care. Why stay friends with her if she's so obnoxious?

Why would you want to be friends with someone who doesn't respect your friendship?
The best gifts are those that come from the heart - and obviously she's a superficial person if she can't see which is the better present.
Dump her, and be friends with someone who understands and appreciates what real friendship is.

This doesn't add up. Why would you put so much effort into pleasing someone who bugs you and whom you think is a hypocrite? I wonder if you're not letting your emotions color this. Maybe you should not put so much importance on how your friend recieves your gift and be happy that they give you their friendship.

Unless she is your child, why do you need to tell her how to behave w/ you? Seems to me that if she was indeed your "friend" no matter what you do (wether big or small) for her is appreciative!

Don't try so hard to be her friend. She didn't appreciate the handmade card she wanted the bling.
