My favorite actor in recent history is Johnny Depp - great character actor. He has played great roles and each role is unique. He has come a long way since 21 Jump Street.
My favorite actors of all time, though, would have to include Henry Fonda (Mr. Roberts and On Golden Pond), Cary Grant, James Cagney, Abbott and Costello, Marx Bros. (all 4), Robin Williams, Tom Hanks, and Carol O'Connor. I may have missed a few, but there are soooo many great actors.
Oh, I should also add my ALL TIME favorite, Mickey Rooney!

This is a difficult question to answer as there are quite a few great actors.
A few that come to mind are Al Pacino, Robert DeNiro, Sean Penn, Johnny Depp (come on- from "Edward Scissorhands" to "What's Eating Gilbert Grape?" to "Pirates of the Carabean" and everything in between) , Mel Gibson, Sir Anthony Hopkins, and so, so many more!

There was an old silent film actor who is in a scene, where he is standing facing the camera. There is a front wall of a house behind him. The wall falls down over him, the area where there is a cutout for a window, passes over him - he is not touched or injured by the falling wall. But the man doesn't flinch, not even a bit - if the stunt went wrong he could've been killed. Now that's great acting.

The title for the most "Best Actor." awards, though, is shared by seven different actors (Spencer Tracy, Gary Cooper, Marlon Brando, Jack Nicholson, Fredric March, Dustin Hoffman and Tom Hanks) who each won two Oscars.

Of all time, probably Jimmy Stewart or Cary Grant. Of current time, Tom Hanks or Anthony Hopkins.

Well, I can't say for "all time", but for my time I'd have to say Sir Anthony Hopkins. However, someone who is close and who is my favorite is Gary Oldman. He's so great at being totally nuts, and totally in control at the same time.
