you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. what a TRUE statement.
how will truth set us free? - truth will set us free first of all by freeing our consciences. if we know that we are truthful we can face our friends (and enemies) with confidence. we can face problems with the knowledge that there is hope to overcome them, because truth gives us strength and confidence as well. truth gives us love for ourselves and for our fellow man. truth leads to other virtues as well; such as honesty and forthrightness.
from what does it set us free ? - truth sets us free from fear. it sets us free from insecurity and everyday worries. it sets us free from guilt and shame. truth is a leaning post that we can rest upon. it is a foundation to build our lives and dreams. truth is indeed one of man's greatest virtues.
there is a latin phrase "in veritas spiro" , in truth there is hope !!

Truth sets us free from false notions of truth.

Truth sets us free by informing us.

------------------

Many people imagine this only as a good thing... "I thought that I was lost, but really I am found"

However, there are more complex levels to this that begin to make people wonder if truth really is something to search for....

On one hand, knowledge is power, but on the other hand, knowledge alone is anything but power. It can feed worry and angst.

Many other virtues are necessary to feed a growing man.... The truth may set one free from a box, just in order to place the you in another one.

Jesus said these words in John 8:32. and you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free".
How ? Through faith alone in Christ alone.
We are all born into the slave market of sin through one man, Adam sin and death entered into the world.
When Christ hung on that cross He was our substitute.
He took our place and was judged for our sins and the sins of the world.
Today the issue is not sin it is "what think you of Christ.
We are set free by the truth of the word, which is alive and powerful it reaches into the very core of our being where nothing else can.
Why? this removes the barrier between God and man.
