I graduated in 1989, and am having a class reunion, so I want to paint a picture of what life was like beffore we graduated. For example, there was no Pussycat Dolls, or no ebay before we graduated. Items would be great... people are okay.. songs... meh.

This is a fun question and your idea for your class reunion is a great one!
No IPODs, hybrid cars, no "reality" television (I think "The Real World" came out in 1989.) No scanners for documents, or digital cameras.
Animation was still done the old fashioned way. Lord of the Rings was only a book. There was no Paris Hilton. Princess Diana was alive and well. The Simpsons was a brand new show. Bill Clinton was Governor of Arkansas. Tiger Woods was 3.
I hope some of these are useful--I'm sure you'll get lots of other fun ideas from other answers. Thanks again for a fun question!

There was not Windows.....Macs ruled then. No MP3's Cell phones were the size of a laptop....no laptops. No hybrid cars, The speed of sound on the ground had not been achieved, no international space station. Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzagovinia were Yugoslavia.... Russia, the Ukraine etc. was the U.S.S.R, We were not at war with Iraq,yet, there was a different Bush in office...........

iPods, Amazon.com, The X-Files, widespread use of cell phones (if anyone had them in 89, they were either in the car or huge) satellite radio. That's all I can think of at this early hour. You might google (that's something else) inventions/innovations since 1989.
