I am a twenty something woman in a relationship for 4 years with a man who can be possesive and controlling. I have few friends due to this. I have recently struck up a friendship with a man whom I am just friends with. I kept it secret as I know it would cause huge trouble. I got found out by him listening behind the door to my phonecalls and now im in the ****. he wants me to tell my friend to leave me alone as hes 'bad news' what do I do, I like my friend and this is hard

you're in an abusive relationship. Controlling men who alienate friends and family is only the 1st in a long series of heartache and turmoil. Once the total isolation has been accomplished the abuse of hitting/ black eyes, bruises etc will start.
You need to get out of this 4yr relationship.....You're young....and don't deserve the form of abuse (CONTROL) that you're experiencing. If you stay in this relationship you're are the one to blame. NO ONE has the right to tell you who you can and can not be friends with. You need to seek alternate housing and shut this guy down NOW before it is to late!!!

Gosh!!!!! Don't you feel suffocated in this relationship ? You need to get a life for yourself . Move on . You have only one life & you cant turn the hands of time anti-clockwise. Live your life the way you want to, without any fear and at your terms . Have a straight talk with your guy and tell him how you want your life & friends to be .You have given 4 yrs to this relationship but you still have a long way to go . He should trust you & understand that as a different person you have a different opinion . He might not agree to you but he will definitely think about it .
Be firm & persistent & gift yourself everything, every emotion & every friend of yours that you always wanted to be a part of your life .

First of all, you don't have to keep it secret having a male friend. The 4-year man is possessive and cotrolling, it is your option to afford it or leave him. So my advice is,
Do as your 4-year man said,
or, leave the your 4-year man,
or, have a talk with the 4-year man, persuade him changing.
Never keep anything secret. Noting can be secret, you know it by yourself at least.

You run!! This is not a joke, run for your life!!!! You already know that in order for you to keep the peace that you have to end your friendship with this guy. Why do you continue to deal with someone who doesn't love you enough to allow you to be yourself? Do me a favor and check w/ local agencies for domestic abuse support groups, because if you stay in this relationship and decide one day that you want to stand up to this "bully boyfriend" of yours he is gonna hurt you (physically) VERY bad!

I know how you feel, myrelationship could be going the same way but your blinded by the fact that you love him, i think you should talk to him and find out why he feels so insecure with you having friends, reasure him that your not going to run off with any one eles, but if the conversation isnt getting you anywhere, as hard as it may be, you might have to cut your losses and move on! good luck

I realize that this is a long term relationship, but I did noticed that not once in your post did you mention anywhere that you love him . Any man who makes you chose between him and his friends for no viable reason is in no way your prince charming!

Why do you stay with him ? He's obviously bad for you. I hope you even listen to this as i know some girls in my life that suffer and suffer and still think its worth it because they forgot what it meant to be free and happy.
