My husband and I decided its time for us to have a baby. I just stopped taking my birth control pills this month. I'm wondering how long you have to be off them usually before you will concieve?

Hello! Some doctors say that the month after you stop taking BC that it could possibly one of the most fertile times... but on average research shows that within the first 6 months of trying mostly likely will concieve by then... however there are things you can do to increase your odds sooner.

If you haven't already done so, look at your ovulation dates... here is a good site: fertilityfriend.com and have sex as much as you can especially the 2 days leading up to ovulation and the day of ovulation.

Another tip, I have researched is if possible lay in bed for like 15-20 min after ejaculation, this helps keep most of the sperm from leaking out, and have sex missionary.

Or, if your not in any hurry, just do your thing... some people say relax, relax and have fun... sometimes that can get irritating, don't think stress is going to cause you not to concieve, there is no evidence saying that a normal amount of stress prevents conception, unless maybe your in a psycho ward.

But I hope this helps, and I hope everything works out for you, I know how you feel my husband and I are in our 2nd month of trying, it can get emotional sometimes, but when you have someone that cares and loves you more than anything in the world, it makes it such a wonderful experience to go through, ups and downs of it and all!!

Best of Luck sweety!!!!!!!!!

My OB told me that many women are given birth control pills for one month when ttc because you are most likely to ovulate the first month after going off the pill. Therefore, I would try this month. My sister-in-law and a few friends have gotten pregnant the first month off bcp. I wish I had known because I waited a month to make sure my cycle was regular after going off them and it took me 3 months to conceive.

If it's been less than a week since the first day of your last period, then I would start charting your daily basal body temperature. You can learn everything you need to know about this at fertilityfriend.com. If you don't want to chart your temps, then I would use an ovulation kit to see if/when you are ovulating this month. Not every woman ovulates on day 14 of their cycle - even if they have a regular 28 day cycle, so it's important to know if and when you are ovulating to be successful at conceiving.

If you aren't successful right away and you're anxious to get pregnant, make an appointment with your OBGYN. Sometimes it can be something simple preventing conception, so it's good to consult with your Dr. It can get pretty depressing going month after month without conceiving, so if you can prevent that - all the better.

Best of luck to you!

Each woman is different, some it takes a year...some get pregnant right away. When you are ovulating again, you are able to conceive. The only way for you to know if you are ovulating is to take your basal body temp each morn, same time and before you get up. You should see a pattern in temps that leads up to and after ovulation. You can get the basal thermometer at Wal-Mart for about 8 dollars. I use a wonderful FREE website called Fertilityfriend.com...it graphs your temps for you, keeps track of your fertility signs, tells you when you ovulate and also tells you if there is an implantation dip in your temps. You can also use Ovulation prediction kits, but they only measure your LH surge and give you a ball park time for ovulation...they do not pin point it. Oh, and it is possible to be ovulating while you do not have your period, just like it is possible to have a period and not ovulate.

This may seem like a no-brainer, but some forms of birth control may reduce your fertility for a while even after you discontinue use. Me too. I thought I was doing everything right, I tried relaxing more, not thinking about it so much, exercised more, saw experts and yet I could not get pregnant. Each month would end in heartbreak; no matter how much I tried to be positive about the new month ahead. I’d spend two weeks every month imagining that every little twinge my body made was different to the last month, that they were signs that I was pregnant, that this month was my month… only to have the month end in devastation. Not one to give up easily and certainly not one to take someone’s word for things, I set about digging up everything I could about getting pregnant. I uncovered some mind blowing research about how to get pregnant fast and have a healthy pregnant fast and have a healthy pregnancy. Read more on this page -- http://aboutgettingpregnant.com

it really does depend, sometimes can take a year or two - my mother became pregnant with me in the first month after coming off the pill so it can very very wildly between women, so dont panic if it doesnt happen right away. good luck!

ok your classes are strange so this is going to be impossible so you might wager once you are going to ovulate. i think of the superb ingredient to do could be to have intercourse each and every 2 days for the duration of your complete cycle, then you particularly're guaranteed to hit the fertile window in some unspecified time sooner or later. in case you flow away it longer than 2 days, some sperm can die interior him because of the fact they're too previous, and those sperm enable of chemical factors while they decay that could injury healthful sperm. in case you have intercourse on a daily basis then the sperm are not getting sufficient time to mature so as that they would be much less healthful ones. you're able to be ovulation tester sticks and determine you have intercourse as quickly as they flow effective, in spite of the undeniable fact that this is better to have intercourse slightly until now that too so doing it for the duration of your cycle could help. good success x

going on mine and my friends experience its best ot wait until you have had one period before falling pregnant, this is because the doctor will ask the date of your last period when working out your due date, so use protection as you could concieve straight away

GOODLUCK!!!
