A lady ran a red light and my truck is crunched in the front. Should I go to a dealer to get the best repairs since the insurance will be paying for it or would a body shop be best. My ins. agent has me calling around today to find a place to get it looked at

Get it done at the dealership they either have a in house bodyshop or they will send it to a dealership that does!! They usally know what they are doing! Or If you have a bodyshop that does a great job do it there!!!

It won't matter because your insurance policy states "repair or replace" parts which means the insurance company can use whatever them deem appropriate to fix your vehicle! Can be after market, junk yard, or whatever! You have no say in the matter as long as the shop makes it look the same as before the accident. Body filler galore is ok too!
Sorry, just what happens when people sit on their deriere's and allow big corporations to dictate policy! Call your congressman and complain! If you get the answering machine that just means he's out of the office picking up his "kick back" checks for the week from the insurance companies!

Typically ,but not always, a dealership that sells your type of vehicle is your best choice. Mom and Pop shops have tighter budgets and tend to cut corners more often. This even gives the good guys black eyes.

the lady's insurance company will probably require you to get 3 estimates, so get one from the dealer and two others from body shops

Your insurance agent will know of the better shops. You can go anywhere you want beware of pirates that call you. As accident reports go to the police they get your name and number and call you unsolicited don't go to a shop that calls you.
