The problem is not Venezuela, the problem is the American government who like to control everybody, and as a Fascist government in disguise they are directly threatened by a genuine Socialist (or people's) government in Venezuela, given that they spent 40 years and billions of dollars destabilising democratizing socialist governments in Latin America because they refuse to pander to US business interests. They helped install military governments in Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Nicaragua, Guatemala and Brazil which meant the overturning of democratically elected socialist governments. The message is, you can only have democracy if it suits US business. The US a promoter of democracy? Ha F*cken Ha that is a joke. The US a democracy? Ha Ha that's even funnier!! It pretends to be a democracy to avoid being seen as a right wing fascist republic. Remember Chile 1973. CIA gives Pinochet the go to overthrow and kill the moderate socialist government of Salvador Allende. And guess what? Pinochet is now an indicted criminal.
