Think on it .
Are you the front man or just a member to make up the numbers.
You may well have been pick just to make up the number of the another band. If that is so then you are no better off.
What will you be paid until the first recording is released.
Will you be a solo artist or only one in a group.
All these need to be answered before you make a decision.
You need a manager to help you make up your mind.
One that can ask the right questions and get the right answers.
Good luck

Be open with the band, all of you discuss the pros and cons. And consider this...obviously you have talent why else would you be offered the contract and if your that good than you've got a fairly good chance of making a huge career for yourself. If your that big there will come a time when you start can start calling all the shots...that's when you go back and get your band members to join up with you again...whatever happens follow your dreams cause your the only one who can make them your reality...
Good luck...and if you tell me who to be listening for, then I'll do just that...

If you want to take the new job really badly, you have to dump the band. But if you want to keep the band, than you cannot take the job. Its a kindda tough decision, nut you are the only one who can decide. Personally, I would keep the band, unless your gonna be making like 100 bucks an hour!

Depends how bad you want it and how much you value your friendship with the other members of the band. I guess if they understood how much you wanted this they may be slightly hurt but will understand but a lot of it will depend on how you react.
If you take it up and sneak around not telling them a thing it'll cause more animosity....
Best policy is always the truthful one....I'd hate to be in your position but good luck with whatever happens.

don't take it.
Your better off sticking with your band.
the recording company..is only going to toss you aside when they get sick of you, and you'll lose your bandmates as friends.
At least with the band ..you'll have friends for life.
Try and talk the record companyinto taking your band..tell them you won't budge unless they sign the whole band.

Sounds style of like a scam however the deal itself is rather solid. maximum artists get decrease than 25% of the money from CD and on line acquire revenues. Plus you shop the rights on your song
