The shooting at the Amish school is really perplexing to me. The Amish are the most peaceful people in the US, why would anyone want to attack them? They just want to lead a peaceful, simple life. Now they are being overrun by the modern world and it's sick facination with violence and death. It saddens and sickens me.

I said they were the most peaceful. But like every other group of people there are good and bad. Light and dark. I understand that there was revenge involved. I just think that if somebody could attack an Amish school, what's to stop them from just walking into my house?

Roberts was not Amish and appeared to have nothing against the Amish community, Miller said. Instead, Miller said, he apparently picked the school because it was close by, there were girls there, and it had little or no security.

PA state police Commissioner Jeffrey B. Miller said investigators were looking into the possibility the attack may have been related to the death of one of Roberts’ own children. According to an obituary, Roberts and his wife, Marie, lost a daughter shortly after she was born in 1997.

Kenneth Trump, president of the National School Safety and Security Services consulting firm in Cleveland, said the Colorado and Pennsylvania crimes underscore the lesson that no school is automatically safe from an attack.

“These incidents can happen to a one-classroom schoolhouse to a large urban school,” he said. “The only thing that scares me more than an armed intruder in a school is school and safety officials who believe it can’t happen here.”

MY question is, did anyone hear of the school shooting that took place on an Indian reservation?

I live here in PA about 1 hour from the site. The community as well as the country by now is pretty shaken. I agree, why the Amish? This individual was seriously disturbed, it sickens me as well. We must keep all of these people in our prayers. They reported on the news last night that it's their faith that will get them through this rough ordeal.

I have deep respect for the Amish. They are peaceful people devoted to God. I have no clue as to why this guy harbored for 20 years something that happened when he was 12, grew up as an adult who had 3 children and a wife, and took these innocent girls' lives. Co-workers etc. claimed he had gotten angry at God, so maybe the fact that the Amish serve God, he took it out on them....

He was sick, I think that he choose it because they don't have security. I read that he had lost a daughter about the same age as those young amish girls. as per why he choose them I have no idea. They don't bother anyone. Good people.

He was sick.

He was not Amish. He apparently was not targeting Amish particularly, but rather young girls, as revenge for something that happened 20 years ago.

The boy was mentally disturbed from an incident that happened 20 years ago. He had issues..ALSO The Amish have been known to rape, and blame the girls for being hurt. They are not the best people you know. There are many horrible stories of girls getting raped hundreds of times, and being banished for trying to get help. I think they should no longert be allowed to live the way they do knowing what kind of bad people they protect. You know they cried for the boys who raped and not for the girl who was raped? The boys even admitted doing it. They are not great people.

Seems like an Amish guy pissed someone off and he finally got his revenge. Oh yeah... even the Amish can be bothersome, just like other humans.... Don't worry, no Amish are reading this.

I agree. This guy apparently was trying to seek revenge for something that happened 20 years ago. He'd just dropped his three daughters there too. What a sick person to have something like this go through their mind and feel justified to actually do it.

They were attacked because they are easy, I'm not saying that to be mean, they just do not protect themselves like most people and they really have no way to get a voice out for any type of help due to their ways of life...

You hit the nail on the head. They are happy, they enjoy life, and they haven't got all the mod cons. Some people just don't understand happiness: it starts in the heart.
