Albania in the west, FYROM (former Yugoslavian republic of macedonia) in the north west, Bulgaria in the north and Turkey in the north east and east.
Macedonia is not a country, it is a geographical area. Thessaloniki in Greece is the Capital of Macedonia and the Thessaloniki airport is Macedonia Airport.
Macedonia used to be a country which covered north-western Greece, a small part of FYROM and a small part of Bulgaria. It was the kingdom of Phillip the II and then Alexander the Great.
The star of Macedonia is found all over the north west Greece and was removed from the flag of FYROM after the death of TITO and the break-up of Yugoslavia by joint decision of the Greek and FYROM governments.
Please don't call FYROM Macedonia.

For drstellabury=MACEDONIA is a country,The part that you are talking about was part of todays country called MACEDONIA!!!! Do not mislead people with false information! MACEDONIA was divided in 1913 and Northern Greece today was part of the country MACEDONIA! The word fyrom was chosen in order for Greece to open its border to MACEDONIA because there was no embargo going on! The country is MACEDONIA get it right and there is only one!!!!
