I think you have to get the electric company to verify your meter reading. Also, are you using your computer a lot more? Start with having the meter verified. One more thing: Verify that your last payment was posted to this bill. It could actually be for two months instead of one, maybe.

You should definately question the bill, go to the power company , -with the bill, sometimes things like this occur, because the Elect Company will estimate the bill for a few months based on previous use, then one day they do an actual reading, if the estimates have been low, the difference is now in the "Read" bill.

For now do this test- turn off everything Electric in your house- EVERYTHING - then go out and look at the Meter, if its turning, you have a short someplace.

that does sound too high, first make sure your previous bill was an actual reading not an estimate, sometimes they estimate it too low or too high. if it was an actual reading call the electric company to come out and see if anyone tapped into your line and is stealing your electricity

I would call your electric comp. and have them come out to check your meter. The gas and electric bills are sky high even though it doesn't seem like we're using much. In the summer mine used to be 75.00 but this past summer they were 150.00 or higher and I don't even have air cond.

It might just be they raised your rates like they did ours here a few months back. Have any kids in the house leaving the television on or every light in the house like ours do?
