The guy is statistically in the top 10 in the history of the game. Why don't people just shut up already and let the guy play. It seems like he has more detractors who are jealous because of all the money he is making. Its like people need controversy so they can feel important about something! Just shut up and get a life and let him play. The controvery in my opinion is more about people picking on a guy who is deficient more in the personality department than in the numbers department. Be honest and be real and get on with your life... talk about Pete Rose or steriods or the beleagured Cubs. Leave Alex alone already!!!

AMEN!!! He is an awesome player. Look at the numbers he has put up this year. 100+ RBI's, 30+ HR, 15 stolen bases. I'm sure anyone else would love to have a "bad" year like his. It's like in '61 with Roger Maris, they just have to have someone to pick on. I suppose they feel that since he is making all the money he should never have a bad day or make a mistake. Wouldn't it be nice if they all joined us back here in the real world. :)

I think in the minds of the fans it is more the money issue than anything else. Think about this for a moment. $252,000,000 dollars to play a kids game. That is more than some third world countries national debt!! No one can comprehend that kind of money except the very few.

In the fans mind this guy should be hitting .400 with 250 hits, 75 home runs and 200 RBI's a year. That is the mentality of what is expected.

Now when you add to the mix that he doesn't exactly endear himself to his teammates or the fans and make racial innuendos it just makes a bad situation worse. Yes, he has great numbers but here is a stat that will blow you away. In Mickey Mantles entire career he made a total of $2,750,000 dollars playing baseball for the New York Yankees. 12 pennants and 7 world championships. A-Rod has yet to win anything and that's the key.

I agree, actually, I've been saying that all season long. People expect him to hit a homer every time he is at bat. If the Yanks have problems, A-Rod isn't the biggest one. Sure, he had a sub-par year,w/ errors in the field and he's been in and out of a long slump. But, like what's already been said, he still drove in over 100 RBI's, scored over 100 runs, hit almost .300 with an on base of almost .400, as well as having 15 stolen bases.
When he was carrying the team in May and early June nobody said a word.
The reality is, these guys are not robots. When things go sour, they get distracted, just like any of us. Hey, they were booing him in his own house, and he still put up those numbers. I think we Yankee fans owe him an apology.

Who are you his freakin security guard? How much do you get paid each year? Stop stickin up for the guy. If he is that good then he should prove himself in the postseason. If he plays like crap, let him get booed. Lets look at this way. He gets paid more in a month then most people will get paid in their lifetime. It's true. Think about it. He gets 2 plus million a month. If the average American gets 50000 a year it would take them 20 years to earn one million. Fourty years would add up to 2 million. Perhaps you might see what I am saying right now. He is getting paid way too much. I like baseball I really do, but I predict that some day baseball will be extinct. Players are going to out price themselves so much so that sooner or later nobody will even be able to afford to go to a baseball game. It's just like Social Security the well is going to dry up.

He's a stud in my book. Unfortunately for him he makes the highest salary in the game and as a result the expectations are the highest. Alex had a "bad" year this year he hit almost .300 drove in 110+ RBI's and hit 30+ home runs. An excellent year for anyone else.

A-rod brought this on himself. I know he's a stud, and one of teh best baseball players around today, but he put his name in lights. Personally I think most of the complainng and stuff is coming from Boston and New York. Honeslty here in the midwest people aren't really talking about A-Rod. It's playoff time now, clean slate for everybody.

Alex is his own worst enemy. He has such a strong need to be loved by everyone and he wants to make everyone happy. Can't happen!!! Its an impossibility. As far as all the money he makes, we as baseball fans have every right to b@@ch and complain. How many people get paid a quarter of a billion dollars to play a game? Only one that I can think of. All he has to do is this....
SEE THE BALL..HIT THE BALL...SEE THE BALL.. CATCH THE BALL...CATCH THE BALL...THROW THE BALL. That is not so much to ask.

I agree. He's an excellent player. Sure he's had his mistakes but who cares. He has over 30 HR and 100 RBI. He's GREAT! I wouldn't mind him for a third basemen.
