When India loses its caste system and starts considering the rights of all of its citizens equally, it will be better positioned to be considered as a developed country.

That would be a good start.

In fact, there are no really good measures of development anyway. It depends what you rate as important signs of development.

I think education and health care are important, but it is not enough to have some of the country living in wealth, university educated, or well fed and healthy, when there are so many living in poverty.

Something to think about.

Another consideration is whether the legal, economic/financial, educational , and transport systems and infrastructures are of an advanced standard across the country. Again, I think it would be questionable whether all of the provinces are adequately supported in this regard.
Now I have no right to put down India's spiritual beliefs, or cultural traditions, but you must bear in mind that those living in poverty are still people, still part of India. Not only that, but they do not choose to be in the poor conditions that they live in. Further, they do not choose their birthplace, birth-family, or caste. They are born into a sub standard position, and India seems happy for this to be so.

The UN is very weak when it comes to human rights. They started by trying to have universal standards, but then conceded to pressure from many Asian nations who claimed their uneven distribution of wealth and poor attitude to rights wre based in culture.

That is a digression, but very important to consider, when looking at the overall political, economic, and social development that are commonly held to be traits of 'developed' nations.

Good luck, and best wishes.

Well, judging by British standards, India has far too many educated people, particularly medical practioners. The younger generation really needs to lose a lot of those old traditions like having respect for their culture, caring for the elder generations and spending far too much time at work, rather than swigging sophisticated drinks like Hooch and Bacardi Breezers - and need to express themselves more freely by brawling in glitzy nightclubs and telling police officers to "fuckk off". On that subject, the police in India seem to have far too much power, which is stunting the variety of "character" out on the streets - come on, where are your rapists, murderers, paedophiles and carjackers? You will insist on locking them up so that the wider community cannot benefit from their contribution to a "modern" society. Also, your divorce rate is really rather pitiful - with so many qualified lawyers, too - no wonder so many of them have to come to a "civilised" country like England to find work. You might want to work on image a little - your national dress is a little on the pretty side, don't you think? Now what you want is some nice burberry, introduce baseball hats and hoodies - and your gold jewelery is too understated - you want to make great big bog chains to hang off your neck, mate! You may have a society based on around 6,000 years of culture, but you've obviously taken your eye off the ball a bit in recent centuries. Where's your drugs barons, protection racquets, arms dealers and "progressive" foreign policy? I mean, Pakistan is ripe for a bit of a pasting and it's right next door, but you simply don't have the get up and go to quash these probable terrorists - but don't worry, America has them on the hitlist, so it won't be too long before they're visiting you to build their camps from where they can take pot shots at your neighbours with minimal danger to their own country - and of course, we'll be tagging along to add the civilising influence. I'm surprised you haven't picked a few things up from our last educational stay... well apart from the cricket and corrupt government officials.

Already we are a developed country only. We have all the sophistications that a so called developed country of to day are having.

But our politicians are allowing our country to be labled as developed one, if so many monetary helps from the intl. communities will stop.
