I'm going to say something different from the posts above...
Every one of us is capable of having strong feelings for our same-sex friends. That doesn't necessarily mean we are gay or even bi. You may have a strong personal attraction for her because she understands you, is easy to talk with and you enjoy doing the same things. Those are qualities we also look for in a mate. It's very much like love. But the attraction doesn't neccessarily mean it's sexual love. It's easy to get them confused, especially when you are young enough at 17 that your hormone production is still working overtime.
According to psychology literature I've read, younger persons ages 12-14 or so are especially prone to have sexual attractions for same-sex friends. Eventually those feelings go away and the person settles down as a normal heterosexual. It's a matter of time with the body's becoming accustomed to hormone production and setting it at a normal level.
You don't neccessarily have to stop seeing your friend. Just be aware that you are both young, and as has been brought out in other posts, deciding to sexually act upon the attraction is a difficult road. If you do hold back, in a few years you may feel differently. I do also realize that it's possible to have same-sex attractions for the rest of your life.

If you are having feelings for another girl it is a wonderful experience, but a tricky one. Many people still are afraid and don't understand. You are both young and at home, so I would not make any public announcements until you are sure. And find some support from people in the PFlag organization (Parents and Friends of Gays and Lesbians). They are good people who will understand, and perhaps, help your folks to understand too.

Hey, it is what it is. We are all born the way we are meant to be, or, we are meant to be the way we are born...either way, go with the flow and don't waste your time and energy worrying about it.
