I wrote the following and am wondering if I have what it takes?

A journey of spirituality is a lonely one; it is a personal quest that can not be done any other way than alone, although we encounter many other travelers along the way. Here I am searching, getting closer to my own personal truth and to the answers I seek.

I search for information. Any information will do for consideration as I attempt to discover how it affects me. Most times it does in one form or another, some more profoundly than others. My quest, in all honesty, is a journey of knowledge. Knowledge is my Power.

I have been inspired to share my thoughts, but never quite know which ones to express for many are controversial and I do not want to step on the toes, or hearts, or beliefs of whomever reads my ramblings. My views on politics and religion (the main taboo subjects) have caused me to tread in deep waters on occasion, for which I had nearly drowned. Despite my efforts to ensure all and reassure some that the views expressed are purely my own and I have no intention whatsoever to sway anyone to my way of thinking, my personal opionions are stomped upon quickly and harshly as they generally tend to go against the grain of conventional thought and teachings. Therefore, they are, for the most part, chained securely in the dark recesses of my conscious, growing louder and stronger for their desire to be let free and be heard. Freedom of speech is one thing, but freedom of thought is quite another.

Yes of course you have what it takes! You're obviously intelligent, imaginative & well-spoken. Writing is a craft, it just takes work. Decide what it is you want to write (fiction, poetry, non-fiction) and keep writing! Whatever it is that you write, remember to be as specific as possible. God is in the details. Make your images vivid, alive for the reader. If you're writing non-fiction, even if it's an opinion piece, it never hurts to thoroughly research the subject. Knowledge is power. The more you have the better.

Good luck! Keep writing!

You have vocabulary, you have logical thought, you have inner awareness. Keep writing. You are a writer now. And if you are driven to write, then write and write and keep on writing.

To become a published writer will take time and development of your own soul in the world. The inwardness is what lets you see and think deeper than convention. But it will take a courage to see that can only be bought through your life experiences to turn you into a publishable writer.

I personally think you should keep going that direction. And journal every day. It's good to think deeply about the important things; you need also to observe and note through word pictures the everyday things going on around you. Watch people, without judgment or criticism, and just describe.

Whether you become a writer or not, whether you become a professor of philosophy or literature, or enter politics, your writing is going to stand you in good stead.

It may become your primary work, it may become a tool of that work, but you have a lot to offer. And I think you have the inner drivenness of a writer, the need to verbalize thoughts on paper.

Hang tough! Maggie.

To be a published writer, the question is not can you write or not. The question is, do you have the determination to plow through writing, say, eight hours a day like any other job without losing your love for it?

If you can close your eyes and imagine the world differently from how it is, and then put it into words, you can be a writer. Getting published is another matter, but hard work and determination should see you persevere.

you seem very well written but the only person that can answer your question is you. you don't need others' validation, you just need to take the time and effort to make it happen.
