You may be right but let's take care of the Tigers first. If the Yankees start looking beyond the first round they could find themselves in deep trouble. They should beat the Tigers but as in all 5 game series lightning can strike when least expected. They must be careful and just take care of business.

Having the best record in the American League and close to winning 100 games, it's going to be tough to get by the N.Y. Yankees. The Minnesota Twins have a great pitching staff and the Yankees have the bats.
It should be a classic match up, but, I like the offensive lineup Joe Torre has put together and with Mariano Rivera as the best closing pitcher in both leagues, the Minnesota Twins will not have nine innings to try to beat the Yankees, but, seven.
So, it boils down to strategy. Can the Minnesota Twins defeat the Yankees in seven innings, while the Yankees have all nine innings of baseball?
In the National League, the N.Y. Mets have a great all around team and may offer the Yankees the toughest challenge in the World Series.

The A's should beat the Twins because Santana can't compensate for the rest of their starting pitching staff. The A's also don't have to throw Zito out there twice like Santana will have to when his team is down 2-1. Pitching on three days rest, the A's will haev a much better shot against Santana. A's win it 3-1.
The Yankees will have a very hard time agaisnt the A's, it should be a good series.

I hoestly don't see the Twins getting past the A's in the first round. The twins and the Tigers both coasted into the playoffs and weren't playing great ball at the end of the season. The TIgers got swept by the Royals and the Twins lost 2 outta 3 to teh White Sox, who were playing their scrubs and September call ups. Funny stuff. I see the Yankees and A's in teh ALDS. The A's will be the biggest hurdle for the Yanks.

I think all American League teams are stronger than the National League - who at this point I consider to be more like quadruple-A.
And painful as it is to admit for a Red Sox fan, I think the Yankees are the class of the American League. Anyone who can knock them off can certainly beat anything the NL has to offer.
My pick - Yankees take the World Series in 5.

Yes I do. I'd really be scared if the Yanks were facing the Twins in a best of 5 series. It's really too bad for Minnesota, that they lost Liriano. If he had stayed healthy, I don't know if anyone could have beat them.

I believe that good pitching beats a good offense. I do not believe that good pitching beats a spectacular offense and that's what the Twin's are up against. Santana's chances of winning 3 of 7 are at best a long shot. This is Yankee time.

Both the Twins and the A's. In the NL, The Cardinals and the Dodgers would beat the Yankees.

No, no way man!!! You first need to win over the Tigers.... With the mooooose and the small unit broken, who's going to get the wins? AND don't forget of F-Rod, (his grade is not an "A") we all know that he'll have more "E's" then hits.... WS Twins-Dodgers
