WE've got an old copy of Robinson Crusoe. It's not dated but is harad cover and has a beautiful illustration on the cover of Crusoe on a raft with two cats. It's published by Ward, Locke & co., Limited London & Melbourne and printed in Britain by Butler & Tanner, From and London. Does anyone have any ideas where we could find out more about it ie: how old it is? Have done the standard search engines with no luck.

Thanks for your help guys, I have already searched through the history of Butler and Tanner, have looked through Vintage books and no there are no address details or dates on the printed book itself (it is an old book). I'll keep looking, hopefully something comes up. In the meantime I'll hold on to the book and hope it's value (whatever it is) increases!

Look it up on www.bookfinder.com
That's where used and rare book dealers post their books for sale. Try to match the publisher, binding and description as closely as possible to one listed there. Remember that condition of the binding is very important in pricing.

are you sure you have done the standard search? ok.. 4 example... have u gone to Britain... and search for its pulishing company? the best way 4 me is to send an e-mail to the publishing company or send them a simlpe letter if you dont know their email adress. I'm sure that book contains the adress of the pulishing company..

Go to either of the major auction houses Sothbey's or Christie's. They have experts on almost every subject and I am sure that if you pose your question to their prospective websites you will get all the answers you need.

I can't give you any useful information, but isn't it possible for you to go to a (good) bookstore, and ask them for advice on what to do. They may give you a hint, or are (possible) able to give you some advice.

I like the story too!!
