Not at all. Environment is a common concern. I imagine the developed countries should be allowed to damage the environment and developing countries should try to repair the damage. "Carbon credit" implies the same. Everyone has the same responsibility to protect and enrich the environment. Most developed countries are not able to keep their commitment on reducing environmental pollution.

Not at all. And by the way, the developed countries pollute far more and emit more CO2 thatn the developing countries. Second, developing countries have greater flexibility than developed countries to implement environmentally safe practices and to incorporate safe industrial products. It is much harder for an established industry in the US (for example) to revamp it's entire production line to be environmentally safe than it is for a growing, dynamic Indian company to choose efficient, environmentally friendly products.

Maybe this is far fetched, but it seems to me that, in countries like India and Brazil, if the state governments and big industry could agree to implement blanket safe environmental practices, these governments could then lobby the WTO for certain trading privileges based on their clean environmental practice. This will sound ridiculous to most people, but all the same, it is indisputable that new industries in developing country have far more flexibility to go green given the range of environmentally safe products and practices that circulate in the market today (in a way that they didn't in the past).

By the way, I know that there are many fellow indians here. I really feel like INdia is a ticking time bomb of environmental catastrophe. Deforestation and the leeching of the water table are doing tremendous damage to our beautiful country.
