The others are right...this isn't hang nails but is usually caused by a deficiency. My mum's just finished chemotherapy and this happened to her nails-the hospital gave her high dose iron tablets.
Obviously you shouldn't just start taking stuff that you might not need, but your doctor will be able to tell with a simple blood test if you've got an iron deficiency.
Good news is that as soon as she got it sorted, they have started growing back normally!

Hang nails are those annoying little splits of skin around the fingernails which is nothing more than dead skin. That isn't what you have. Do you mean that your nails tend to bend inward? If so, it could be hypo/hyper thyroid, iron deficiency, psoriasis or some other systemic problem.

What you have isn't hangnails, what you have is a disorder of the nail, i can find out what it is later and get back to you on what causes it and what can be done to help stop it.
I did beauty therapy at college and learnt about problem nails and stuff but havn't done it for a while so will have to look it up.
