if its a bank this is their fault and they will find it. INSIST that they do not charge you. IT happened to me

Have you checked your bank account to see if it has been debited? There is usually a problem with either the sort code or the account number when this happens. If it has left your bank then they will have to contact the CHAPS centre to see if it can be sorted, if it hasn't it will down to your branch to find out the problem. In any event, if it cannot reach it's destination due to ineffective details, it should be bounced back to you today or tomorrow. Depending on whose fault it is you should get any penalties due to the error paid back to you.

was it western union?

take your receipt back to wherever you paid, and ask them what to do.
