There is nothing that can be established as a certain fact about Homer, including whether he actually existed, whether he authored the Iliad or Odyssey, when he was born, or when he died.

I don't think anyone does. The facts of his life are unknown. In fact, there are some who claim that there wasn't one author of the Iliad and the Odyssey.

If you look up his quotes you will come to the conclusion that he was a traveller. that may be a starting point for you.
