My baby will be a new born (3 months) and I live in California. It will probably be for 3-5 hrs a day, 5 days a week.

My 3 month old goes to a church daycare and it costs $32/day. And that's in Michigan. Some of my girlfriends' daycare is up to $60/day. It just depends on where you live and what you want (a structured learning program appropriate for their age or someone basically putting them in front of the tv and changing diapers).

Childcare can get to be very expensive. If your this close to having your baby you really should be going around, talking to different day cares, touring the place and talking with the teachers. Dont listen to the other person, you dont give up your child just becuase your having a problem deciding who should take care of your baby while at work.

I live in Minnesota and I do daycare in my home. I charge $160 a week for Full Time. For you, being Part Time I would probably charge maybe $6 an hour?

For quality professional daycare it is about anywhere from $10 to $20 a day depending on the center and age of the child.
