Gandhi Jayanthi is the day when Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (Mahatma Gandhi) was born. Gandhi Jayanthi is on 2nd October. Gandhi was a great peace follower. He hated ahimsa (violence).

The great leader mohandas karamchand gandhi (better known as mahatma/baapu gandhi) was born on this day(2nd october) and so his birthday is celebrated in india as gandhi jayanti.
