Islam is not a threat at all. It is a peaceful and scholarly religion.

Extremist Islamists, which emerged in the 20th Century mostly after the collapse of the Ottomon Empire, however pose a small but tangible threat to all good people. Terrorists that are willing to kill innocent people, whatever their religion may be, are a serious threat to all decent peace-loving people. But Islamist terrorists are nowhere near as powerful as they and Western Governments would like us to think they are. They're nobodies, dangerous nobodies but still nobodies.

Islam is not a threat - the threat comes from the fanatics who make interpretations of the Koran and use it to gain more power - the fanatics are not true muslims!

Islam is a way of life not just a religion and it is a peaceful and respectful faith, like Buddism.

The biggest threat to this world are the ignorant people who use their fear to start wars instead of trying to find out about and embrace the differences in peoples and cultures.

To the Western world Islam is by far the greatest threat it has ever seen since the Nazis. The combination of a religion and political ideology is a potent one, making Islam far closer to communism or national socialism than a faith as such. There is no such thing as a "moderate muslim", as these people are simply cultural muslims. Following Islam means following Sharia law, a political stance which is at odds with the west. This is potentially a very frightening situation; upon an open war with the Islamic world we have potentially millions of violent traitors within our midst and left wing apologists to back them up.

The comparison with the communist threat is a good one, as it defines the worldwide Islamic movement by its political aims rather that its spiritual aims. However, for the west there are major differences: 1. There are far more muslims in European society than communists 2. Islam is inherently violent and dominating. This is not xenophobia, the Koran is quite explicit on this. 3. The religious part of Islam creates fanatics with a very limited grasp on rationality and reason; communists were different but they were not never really irrational, with the exception of communist terror groups such as Baader-Meinhof. 4. In European society we have major cultural taboos about approaching cultural and racial issues.

On the world stage, Islam is only dangerous in certain circumstances. Our involvement in Islamic countries makes this threat worse, however justified it is (Afghanistan, anyway). The nuclear weapons issue is a major one, mainly due to the presence of Israel. Could an Islamic country be trusted not to use its weapons of mass destruction or give them to its state sponsored terrorists?

The world is at war, its naive to think otherwise. However, the terrorist is only the very tip of the iceberg. If you read up on this, take anything you read from both sides (Islamic and western) with a pinch of salt, the propaganda war is quite advanced!

Islam per se is not the threat. The fundamentalists of the world, whichever religion or cult they belong to, are the real threat to world peace.

All authentic Muslims include this Ideology. some desire to do it peacefully others by using violence, yet none will relax until this purpose is performed.

Islam is a big threat because there is to many sick leaders there believe in killing the Western world and so drive their own people to murder because they think they better than us. When will they really learn, when it to late, they will all be begging forgiveness and not just them. For God sake stop crying, He not asking you to murder people. Only sick people will believe that.

I don't see Islam as a threat. It's the radical extremists in any group that are the threat.
