Yeh, I think the success of this film lies in the fact that how the director put the story together, there are many frightening scene which I still recall now after seeing the film twenty years after!!!! If you haven't seen it, you sure got to see it, it's a legend and a good movie!!!!

the book is better. saw both versions of it the second one was more true to the book, but the first one ...i mean, come on jack nicolson, for god's sake he carried the whole film..he was truly sinister just the way i like 'em..but scary?no...his wife (in the first one) was scary..those eyes...those teeth...my lord, could'nt he have shook her around a bit before freezing to death. read the book.

The original one? I watched it expecting it to be this ominous, scary movie and it turned out to be pretty corny. Stick to better Kubrick films than this one.

Not really. Just alittle bit. And alittle weird. Its "old time scary". Can't compare it to the new scary movies.
